Executive Board - October 2004The next meeting of the Board and also the Council of National Representatives will be held during the 40 Anniversary Congress of NATN to be held in Harrogate, UK October 12-14.
Executive Board meeting will be on Monday 11 October, and CNR on Tuesday 12 October. Venue details will be available nearer the time.
On- line Journal deliberations are a little behind schedule, but are being actively followed.
PNG Project- A successful IFPN workshop was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in May. An interim Executive Board is currently working towards launch of Papua New Guinea Perioperative Nurses Association in November 04. A report with detail has been placed on www.ifpn.org.uk . They were welcomed to IFPN as members with pre-membership status.
New Members IFPN is delighted to welcome the Perioperative Chapter of the Kenya National Nurses Organisation to membership, kindly supported by ORNAC.
Perioperative nurses in Malaysia are in the final stages of setting up their perioperative organization. They have expressed keen interest in membership and are meanwhile being supported by IFPN with their final documentary submissions to their Registrar General.
IFPN /ACORN Inaugural CNR Seminar was held in Adelaide, South Australia on Wednesday 28 April 2004.
We were delighted to welcome 160 delegates to the day, who enjoyed an excellent set of presentations on Infection Prevention.
IFPN/AORN Pre-Congress Seminar will be held in New Orleans. Theme is Terrorism- Global Nursing Perspectives. 2 April 05.

World Congress - Barcelona Spain. CNR are asked to discuss with their organizations and find hot topics for the networking sessions.
International Forum is once again on the programme, and CNR may like to make suggestions for content, in this prime education session of World Congress. Detailed planning for these sessions will begin in October 04. Suggestions for topics to Sheila Allen please.
Nomination packets for vacancies arising in October 04, are due to shortly be sent out. All member organisations are asked to carefully consider nominating for the Board. IFPN pays all attendance at meetings, and we would like to expand representation on the Executive Board. It is fun, allows great opportunities for professional development for the individual and learning about perioperative organizations around the world. Please come and join us!
IFPN celebrates its fifth birthday in July 04. Congratulations to the founding members, steering committee and initial Board for their wisdom and vision for creating the sound foundations for a thriving organization. The website will be the focus for the celebrations and we would welcome messages to ifpn@natn.org.uk to wish IFPN many more years of growth and development!
